If you are a cosplayer, you may have already heard the phrase “Cosplay is NOT Consent" which is used in reference to women and men in costume being sexually objectified, touched, and cat called.
CONsent is a movement being organized over at http://www.16bitsirens.com in an effort to bring more awareness to this issue in the world of conventions. Steps include taking a picture of yourself with a sign (whether in or out of costume) expressing your support, and taking “Caught Creep” photos to help publicly shame people who take inappropriate photos of cosplayers without consent.
Get involved by sharing the photos you take on Facebook and tag 16bitsirens in it, or share them on Twitter, Tumblr, and Instagram with the tag #CONsent or #CaughCreep.
Spread the word! Cosplay is NOT Consent! More awesome photos of awesome geeks can be found here.
These people that showed up at WonderCon and started shouting about how we needed to be “saved” by Jesus were in the wrong place. Many of the attendees simply ignored them, some, like these women decided to make a statement.
Anyone who has ever been to a Con knows that the vast majority of people who attend are very accepting and encouraging. Everyone has a great time and is very supportive of one another. If the rest of the world were more like Con Attendees, it would be a much more peaceful and loving. Wars would be a thing of the past.
If these “Jesus Saves” people were really interested in making the world a better place, they would have stopped shouting, stopped shaming and started listening and learning. Then, they should go somewhere else and teach what they learned.

This is amazing news as Orlando’s Wizarding World of Harry Potter is undergoing MASSIVE renovations to extend the Harry Potter experience! Some of the ConGeek crew were lucky enough to be able to attend LeakyCon 2011 in Orlando and we all heartily agree if there is a LeakyCon you NEED to go to, this is the one! So start saving Leaky goers, next year is going to be magical :)
You’ve only got a little over 8 days left to get your hands one one of these two awesome shirt designs by Tom Trager! Tom is Fans of Sherlock's Artist of the Month. Deservedly so, as his designs are generally pretty fantastic! Get both and express your inner Consulting Detective and on your slightly more devious days show off your inner Consulting Criminal! Personally, I'm always more partial to my Consulting Criminal ;)

We are sad to see that John Green is not among them, but it’s not surprising since he has a new baby on the way! However, we are hoping are favorite program director Maureen Johnson will be trolling people again this year. Make sure you follow her on Twitter for lots of con related fun!
